It is a proven fact that neighbours working in accord create a huge impact on where they live:
This is especially true when forming an official residents’ association, which has greater impact in our dealings with local & county councils, police and other relevant bodies.
Together we can keep our communal areas clean and tidy:
Volunteers from the association continue to conduct clean-up operations with monthly litter picks, planters in the High Street and gardening projects to improve our surroundings. Last year we gave out Thank You certificates to householders who made a special effort with their frontages.
This summer we would like to propose a Garlinge Gorgeous Gardens competition to really put us on the map.
The Association has a long-term vision to campaign for its own community centre:
We are currently campaigning for the re-opening of the Old School Hall under lease to Garlinge.
Or maybe we can raise the funds to buy it? Please add your voice to ours.
We are the only district in Thanet without a non-denominational community hall. This isn’t right!!
Much more is achievable when a greater number of people put their voices to a project:
Our campaigns and letters are taken seriously by Local & KCC Councillors (Jonathan, John, Emma and Liz), who regularly attend our meetings and take genuine interest in Garlinge. Our new PCSO, Nick, is also giving us his support.
Campaigns are on-going:
Come and put your name to our causes. Your views and opinions are important and we want to be able to represent the whole of Garlinge. Keep up to date in our ‘Local Issues’ section.
We love to organise family-friendly social events:
We hold regular Quiz Nights and seasonal events. Bring the children along. No taxi fares, no baby-sitter required. Details in ‘What’s On’ section, facebook and GRA Notice Board by the paper shop.
Please come and join us:
Our members are both long-term and new residents with a wide blend of interest and experiences. We are friendly and welcoming with a passion to make Garlinge the best place in the world to live.
Making a difference together.
